On Wednesday, February 7th, our Golden Hawks took on the Western Mustangs as fans filled the bleachers at the University of Waterloo Physical Activities Complex. Our women’s team started out strong but were unable to overcome the Western Mustangs, losing 65-48. Nicole Morrison led the team in points with another double-digit game, scoring 13. The men’s team were unable to beat the Mustangs, losing 93-84. The men’ team had an unforgettable first half but fell short in the second. Both teams fought hard but only one could walk away with a win.

The stands were filled with electric energy as our teams took on the Western Mustangs. Our teams did not end up on top but that did not stop our fans from cheering and supporting our Golden Hawks. One fan was hard to miss, cheering on our men’s team in their crucial final minutes. Bruce McKay went home as the Wilf's Fan of the Game for his amazing support, taking with him a t-shirt and gift certificate to Wilf's.

The following Sunday was a big day for the Golden Hawks as they took on the Guelph Gryphons during their last regular season home game. The Hawks were excited to be playing at RIM Park as fans came to support during the Seniors Day games. The women came out fighting in the first game against Guelph. Although pushing hard to keep up with the Gryphons, the Hawks fell short with a final score of 74-56. Next up, the men’s team knew they had their work cut out for them. Fighting for every single point throughout the game, Laurier dominated Guelph with a final score of 75-61. A great effort coming from both Golden Hawk teams.

As the graduating seniors were honoured during their games, the bleachers were filled with friends and family supporting the team. Among the crowd was Tamara and Tanaeya Kokko, siblings of #11 Tevaun Kokko. Both girls showed their spirit and support for the Golden Hawks throughout the whole game, cheering on their brother loud and proud! For the tremendous support, Tamara and Tanaeya went home as Wilf’s Fans of the Game, and with them a t-shirt and gift certificate to Wilf’s.

Be sure to check out for any upcoming games where you could have the chance of going home as Wilf's Fan of the Game.
