WATERLOO, Ont. (February 2, 2018) - In a game that had a playoff-type feel to it, the Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks men's hockey team came out on the losing end against the Western Mustangs for the third time this season as they fell 1-0 at the Waterloo Memorial Recreation Complex on Thursday night.

For the Hawks (13-9-3), the loss was their fifth in a row (0-4-1) and dropped them into a three-way tie with Brock (12-7-5) and Western (13-9-3) for fourth place in the conference.

The only player to find the back of the net in this contest was Western's Kolten Olynek (Saskatoon, Sask.) who scored midway through the third period.

Chris Festarini (Oakville, Ont.) got the start in net for Laurier and had one of his best games of 2018, allowing just one goal on 25 shots.

Luke Peresinni (Nobleton, Ont.) was victorious for Western as he had his first career shutout stopping all 27 shots on goal.

Laurier will look to return to the win column on Friday night, February 2, when they host the Toronto Varsity Blues in their final home game of the regular season.

The puck is set to drop at 7:07 p.m. at the Waterloo Memorial Recreation Complex.
