Golden Hawks look to secure two wins as they play back to back on home ice against the Western Mustangs and the Toronto Varsity Blues

The Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks men's hockey team will be playing back to back on home ice against the Mustangs and Varsity Blues in hopes to secure a pair of wins. With the race to the playoffs heating up, the purple and gold are just holding onto the possibility of home ice advantage in the opening round, something they will be hoping to solidify this week as they aim to snap their four game losing skid.

- The Golden Hawks are currently tied for fourth in the OUA West standings with 13-8-3 record and 29 points on the season
- Western enters Thursday's game in fifth place in the OUA West standings with 27 points and a 12-9-3 record 
- The Toronto Varsity Blues currently are tied for last in the division with 19 points and a 9-14-1 mark on the season 
- The Hawks own a 1-2-0 record against the Mustangs this season, losing 6-2 in their last meeting a week ago
- The last time the purple and gold met Toronto, they came away victorious 4-1

Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks (13-8-3)

D Matt Franczyk (Winnipeg, Ont.)
-    Currently has 10 points on the season consisting of one goal and nine assists 
-    Has played steady on defence all season long, logging big minutes in his fourth season
-    The communication major has one goal and one assist against the Mustangs so far in 2017-18

Western Mustangs (12-9-3)

LW Spenser Cobbold (Ottawa, Ont.)
-    Currently has 17 points on the season consisting of seven goals and 10 assists
-    The social science major has points in every matchup against the Hawks this year, totalling four assists

Toronto Varsity Blues (9-14-1)

F Hunter Atchison (Victoria, B.C.)
-    Currently has 18 points on the season consisting of eleven goals, two of which are game-winning tallies, along with seven assists
-    The rookie recorded an assist on Toronto's only goal the last time they met Laurier

Following this, the Hawks will be entering their final week of regular season play facing off against the Waterloo Warriors on Wednesday, February 7 at the Kitchener Auditorium. Puck drop is set for 7:15 p.m. This will be followed by the Hawks playing the Lakehead Thunderwolves on Saturday, February 10 at the Fort William Gardens Arena. Puck drop is set for 7:00 p.m.
