It was quite the series of events that led both our women’s and men’s basketball team to two victories this past weekend against the Algoma Thunderbirds. The move of locations from the Laurier Athletic Complex to the University of Waterloo's Physical Activities Complex did not phase these two teams. Friday night the women’s team beat the Thunderbirds 67-50, leading for a majority of the game. The team finally broke their four game losing streak putting on a show for the fans and never missing a beat. The men’s team earned their fourth win a row, beating Algoma Thunderbirds 80-53. The team controlled most of the game, proving with each quater why they deserve to be on top.

The crowd never stopped cheering for our Golden Hawks, supporting both the men's game and women's team. It was hard to miss Kate who cheered her heart out for every single point. For her great spirit Kate is going home as Wilf's fan of the game.

Saturday afternoon's games did not disappoint as both teams secured victories in their doubleheader against Algoma once again. The women's team started slow in the first quarter but overwhelmed the Thunderbirds for the last three quarters capturing a 75-48 victory. The men's team had a harder time securing their victory as the game was neck and neck until the bitter end. The team pushed through and their efforts paid off winning 62-52.

Dedicated fans showed their support during this day game, cheering loud and boosting our teams when they needed it the most. Among the crowd that came out was Jackson. Attending both games, Jackson cheer his heart out with his alumni dad. He went home as our Wilf's Fan of the Game with a t-shirt and gift card to Wilf's Restaurant & Bar.

Do you want the chance to win the title of Wilf's Fan of the Game? Your next chance is Wednesday, January 24th, during the men's basketball game at 1 pm at the Kitchener Memorial Auditorium Complex . You won't want to miss the Golden Hawks take on the McMaster Marauders.
