WATERLOO, Ont. (January 13, 2018) – The Laurentian Voyageurs scored the game’s only goal with just over a minute to play in regulation as they downed the Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks women’s hockey team by a score of 1-0 on Saturday night at the Waterloo Memorial Recreation Complex.

It was a heartbreaking result for the purple and gold after a fantastic effort from their penalty killers who successfully defended nine powerplay opportunities for the Voyageurs (6-1-5-3).

Natalie Lamarche of Ottawa, scored her second goal of the season to extend Laurentian’s win streak to four straight.

Cohen Myers of Shakespeare, Ont., got her first start in five games for Laurier (1-1-11-2) and was very strong for the Hawks, allowing just the one goal on 28 shots in the loss.

Shanna Dolighan of Oshawa, Ont., earned the shutout for the Voyageurs making 15 saves.

Laurier will look to bounce back from this game next Sunday, Janaury 21, when they head across University Ave. to take on the Waterloo Warriors for the second installment of the Battle of Waterloo.

Puck drop is set for 2:30 p.m. and the game can be seen live on
