AJAX, Ont. (January 3, 2018) - Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks men’s curling skip Matt Hall will represent Team Ontario at the 2018 New Holland Canadian Juniors after winning the U21 Ontario Provincial Championship last week at the Annandale Golf and Curling Club.

Hall and his team, which also features former Golden Hawk Jeff Wanless, won their second consecutive Ontario title after defeating Team Willsey 7-2 in the championship match. The third year financial math major defeated a pair of his current Laurier teammates to advance to the national championship as third Jordie Lyon-Hatcher and second Connor Lawes play for Team Willsey.

The victory sends Hall to Shawinigan, Que., where he and his team will attempt to win the national title and the opportunity to represent Canada at the World Junior Championships. Last year, Hall fell just short of the national title, losing the gold medal match 9-7 to Team Tardi from British Columbia.

For Hall, this marks the third consecutive year that he will compete for Ontario at the Canadian Junior Championship. Two years ago, he played second for Team Kee that finished seventh at the championship.

The 2018 New Holland Canadian Juniors runs from January 13-21 at the Centre municipal de curling de Shawinigan and Arena Grand-Mere.
