Golden Hawks return to action this weekend facing off against the Ryerson Rams and the Waterloo Warriors

Following a month off due to the holiday break, the Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks men’s hockey team will resume their 2017-18 season as they host the Ryerson Rams on home ice followed by travelling across town to partake in the second installment of the Battle of Waterloo against the Waterloo Warriors.

- The Golden Hawks are currently fourth in the OUA West standings, with 23 points off a 10-4-2 record
- The Waterloo Warriors are entering play this week riding a four-game losing skid and are currently tied for seventh in the OUA West standings with 13 points
- Entering with a three-game winning streak, the Ryerson Rams have 23 points to their name sitting in a tie for second place in the OUA West standings with a 11-4-1 mark on the season
- The last time the purple and gold faced off against the Rams they lost 4-3 in shootout in Toronto
- In the first installment of the Battle of Waterloo, the Hawks swept the scoreboard with a 9-0 shutout victory at their annual School Day Game
- a victory in Saturday's showdown against Waterloo will clinch the Battle of Waterloo trophy for the Golden Hawks in its inaugural season of competition

Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks (10-4-2)

RW Andrew Fritsch (Brantford, Ont.)
- The arts major is currently tied for first in the OUA with three game-winning goals
- The right wing has racked up five goals, eight assists and 13 points
- In his last five games, Fritsch has recorded three multi-point efforts, including two goals and an assist against Waterloo

Ryerson Rams (11-4-1)

F Matt Mistele (Whitby, Ont.)
- The business management major currently leads the team with 30 points on the season also landing him in second place in the OUA for points
- he is first in the OUA for goals with 13 to his name and is third in the conference with 17 assists
- The last time these teams met, Mistele secured one of the Rams goals

Waterloo Warriors (5-8-3)

F Keigan Goetz (New Hamburg, Ont.)
- The arts major leads the team with 12 points on the season
- Currently has nine goals and three assists

Following this week’s matchups, the Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks will be hitting the road to face off against the Windsor Lancers on Friday, January 12 and Saturday, January 13 both at 7:30 p.m. at the Windsor Arena.
