OTTAWA (November 27, 2017) - Two former members of the Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks men’s football team were among those celebrating with the Toronto Argonauts on Sunday night as they won the 105th Grey Cup 27-24 over the Calgary Stampeders at TD Place.

Linebacker Nakas Onyeka and kicker Ronnie Pfeffer will have their names etched onto the championship trophy after one of the most memorable Grey Cups in history.

Onyeka, the 2016 OUA President’s Award winner, dressed as a backup linebacker in the contest and was a key part of Toronto’s special teams unit all season long. Despite not recording any stats in the championship game, the victory caps an impressive rookie season for the 2016 Yates Cup champion after he recorded 14 special teams tackles in his first year of professional football.

Meanwhile, Pfeffer adds a second Grey Cup championship to his resume one year after winning the title with the Ottawa Redblacks. Despite finishing the year on the six-game injured list, Pfeffer served much of his time with Toronto this season as the primary backup to Lirim Hajrullahu.
