Golden Hawks look to break the tie for first in the West by tallying up wins against the Concordia Stingers and the McGill Redmen

THE LOW-DOWN
The Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks men’s hockey team will be hitting home ice twice this weekend as they are set to face off against the Concordia Stingers and the No. 5 McGill Redmen where they will look to add to their list of victories to break the tie for first place in the OUA West division.

NEED TO KNOW
- The Golden Hawks are currently tied for first, with the York Lions, in the OUA West standings, with 18 points off a 8-2-2 record
- The Stingers are third in the OUA East standings, with 18 points and a 8-2-2 record
- With 24 points, the Redmen are in first place in the OUA East standings with a 12-2-0 mark on the season
- Laurier last played both these in the 2016-17 season suffering a 2-0 loss to Concordia and earning a 4-3 victory over McGill

PLAYERS TO WATCH
Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks (8-2-2)

LW Brandon Robinson (Pickering, Ont.)
- The second-year arts major currently leads the team with ten points on the season 
- Currently has five assists and five goals, one of which isa power play goal and one of which isa game-winning goal
- His strong performance on the ice last season was rewarded with receiving Team Rookie of the Year in 2016/17

Concordia Stingers (8-2-2)

F Anthony Beauregard (St. Demase, Que.)
- The arts/science major leads the team with 23 points on the season consisting of 12 assists and 11 goals, three of which are power play goals and two of which are short-handed goals
- Currently first in the OUA for points, first for goals, and second in the league for assists

No. 5 McGill Redmen (12-2-0)

C/F Jerome Verrier (Drummondville, Que.)
- Currently leads the team with 21 points consisting of 17 assists and four goals, one of which is from a power play
- The economics major is currently first in the OUA for assists and third in the league for points

Following this weekend, the Hawks will play their last two games of the year before winter break. On Thursday, November 30 the Hawks will face the Waterloo Warriors in the Hawks' annual School Day Game where the puck is set to drop earlier than normal at 11:00 a.m.

The purple and gold will then face the No. 8 York Lions at the Canian Ice Sports Arena on Friday, December 1. Puck is set to drop at 7:00 p.m..
