Golden Hawks look to continue hot start to the season against a pair of West Division rivals

The Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks men’s hockey team will look to continue their best start in eight years this week as they face the Brock Badgers on the road Friday night before returning home to take on the Western Mustangs on Saturday.

- Saturday's game against Western is a Dollar Days promotion game where Laurier students can watch the Hawks for just $1

- the Hawks are off to their best start to a season since 2009-10 thanks to a 7-2-1 record through their first 10 games
- that mark has the Golden Hawks currently in third place in the OUA West standings
- the Badgers are in a three-way tie for sixth in the OUA West standings, with nine points and a 3-4-3 record 
- with just seven points, the Western Mustangs are in last place in the OUA West standings with a 3-6-1 mark on the season
- this will be the second meeting of the season for Laurier against both Brock and Western. The Hawks knocked off the Badgers 5-4 in a shootout last week and suffered a 3-2 loss the the Mustangs two weeks ago

Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks (7-2-1)

G Chris Festarini (Oakville, Ont.)
- The fourth-year business major was a brick wall in the last game against Windsor saving 31 of 32 shots, including all three in the shootout as well as a penalty shot in overtime
- Currently third overall in the OUA for save percentage with a mark of 0.939 and goals against average at 1.95 

Brock Badgers (3-4-3)

RW Matt MacLeod (Niagara Falls, Ont.)
- The veteran leads the team with nine points to his name consisting of four goals and five assists
- Currently third overall in the OUA for game-winning goals with three to his name

Western Mustangs (3-6-1)

LW Rob Polesello (Orangeville, Ont.)
- The left winger leads the team with ten points on the season 
- Polesello has recorded three goals, one of which is a power play goal, and seven assists 

Following action this weekend, the Hawks will have back-to-back home games next week where they will play the Concordia Stingers on Friday, November 24 and then the McGill Redmen on Saturday, November 25. Puck is set to drop at 7:07 pm for both matchups.
