THE LOW DOWN
The Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks hit the ice at the Waterloo Memorial Recreation Complex for the first time this season on Saturday night as they host the Waterloo Warriors in the first of two Battle of Waterloo matchups this season.

NEED TO KNOW
- Laurier got off to a slow start in their first weekend of action, suffering a pair of shutout losses; one a 2-0 decision to Toronto and the other a 1-0 shootout loss to Ryerson
- the Warriors split their opening two games last weekend, winning 3-2 in overtime in their home opener against Queen’s after losing 1-0 to UOIT in their season opener
- the Hawks were one of two teams (Windsor) who failed to score in their first two games of the season
- thanks to their strong goaltending, Laurier ranks second in the conference in goals against average and save percentage at 0.97 and 0.972 for the year
- Waterloo is not far behind, ranking fourth in both categories, setting this game up to be a defensive battle
- Laurier currently leads the Battle of Waterloo competition with a 5-0-4 record from this season’s football, soccer, rugby and baseball matchups
