It was a busy day at University Stadium as the Golden Hawks took on the Western Mustangs to decide whose purple is really better during the Homecoming game. As fans filled the stands and endzones, the Golden Hawks had their game faces on, ready to play a tough game. The Golden Hawks were sure to show the Mustangs whose turf they were on as they came out in the first quarter very strong. Throughout the remainder of the first half, the Golden Hawks played their hearts out, pushing to fight back against the Mustangs. Despite the Hawks amazing effort, Laurier fell just short of Western by a score of 29-13
With thousands of fans taking the stand to watch their Golden Hawks take on their rival team, the Western Mustangs, you could hear the roar from the crowd all the way from Univeristy and King. Each fan was sure to bring their spirit and enthusiasm all in support of the Golden Hawks during their Homecoming game. Among the crowd was Laurier student Cynthia Vong, who clearly demonstrated her school spirit throughout the entirety of the game. Cynthia was dressed head to toe in Laurier gear and you could see her waving pompom all the way down from the field. For Cynthia's tremendous support of the Golden Hawks, she was given the title of Wilf's Fan of the Game alongside a t-shirt and gift certificate to Wilf’s Restaurant and Bar.
Do you think you have what it takes to be the Wilf's Fan of the Game? Your next chance to win the title is October 21st as the Golden Hawks take on McMaster Marauders during the last regular season football game.
