WATERLOO, Ont. (October 3, 2017) – As of Tuesday afternoon, the Wilfrid Laurier University Golden Hawks men’s football team have been announced as No.5 in the country following their Week 6 loss against the Western Mustangs.

After earning a 39-0 victory over the York Lions in Week 1 of the 2017 regular season, the Hawks jumped to No.6 in the country, a title which they held onto despite their bye-week in Week 2. As per Week 3, the Golden Hawks continued to soar as a top team in the nation. Following the Hawks 38-35 victory against the Carleton Ravens, 40-17 win over the Queen’s Gaels in Week 4,  and the 71-24 victory over the Waterloo Warriors in Week 5, the purple and goal sustained the No.5 position. Instead of launching forward, Laurier continues to stay at the No.5 position following the most anticipated game of the season where the Hawks were handed a 13-29 loss at the hands of the Western Mustangs.

The Golden Hawks return to the field this Thursday, October 5th at Alumni Field in Toronto to face the York Lions. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
