WFAST improves to .500
Laurier's women's fastpitch team has improved to 4-2 on the season after a pair of wins last weekend

WATERLOO, Ont. (September 25th, 2017)- The Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks competitive fastpitch team is 4-2 on the season.

The Laurier women’s fastpitch team started week two of their Ontario Intercollegiate Women’s Fastpitch Association (OIWFA) season against the seven time defending champions, Western Mustangs. The Golden Hawks have seen the Mustangs in the gold medal game in two of the past three seasons but the ‘Stangs proved to be too much on Friday night, downing the Golden Hawks 15-0 and 6-0. 

The Golden Hawks needed a bounce back day on Saturday at Waterloo Park and came away with just that, downing the York Lions 8-1 and 8-5. In game one of the double header ,  first year Briana Norlock pitched a complete game, holding the Lions to just five hits behind stellar defense by the Golden Hawks. Bobbi-Sue Hentges and Dani O’Connell were both 3-3 at the plate for the run ruled win for Laurier. 

In game two, Sydney Scott threw three strong innings and Norlock came into finish the game on the mound behind the hot bat of Kathleen Gregus who had two hits and scored twice for the 8-5 win. 

Sunday afternoon had the Queen’s Gaels visit Waterloo to close out a six game weekend for the Golden Hawks. Amy Campagnolo made her return to the mound and pitched a seven inning, four-hitter with eight strikeouts. O’Connell and Gregus continued their hitting ways from Saturday afternoon combining for three hits and a homerun from Gregus for the 5-0 win. First year Megan Harland also added to the offence with a single, walk, and sacrifice bunt, scoring once. 
In game two against the Gaels, Norlock started and threw four strong innings for the Golden Hawks in a 12-5, run rule win. Bobbi-Sue Hentges scored three times and O’Connell stayed hot at the plate all weekend, banging out three more singles. Alanna Hentges also had two singles and a walk to lead the Golden Hawks offense back .500 on the season. 

The Golden Hawks fastpitch team finished the weekend with a 4-2 weekend and improved to 4-4 on the season and will hit the road for the first time this season in week three, travelling to the University of Toronto, Guelph, and Ryerson this weekend.
