WATERLOO, Ont. (September 12, 2017)- The Wilf's Fans of the Game have been announced for the Golden Hawks' Week 1 and Week 3 victories held at University Stadium.

It was an exciting game as the Laurier Golden Hawks took on the University of Toronto Varsity Blues for their home opener, and claimed a 39-0 victory over the visiting team to start the season.

Looking into the stands, there was a sea of purple and gold as fans came to support their Hawks in their first regular season game. Among the crowd was Laurier Football's very own rookie quarterback Tristan Arndt's father, Brad Ardnt. It was clear throughout the entirety of the game, that Brad was an enthusiastic fan, on his feet during all 4 quarters and cheering loud and proud with every successful play by the Hawks. Due to Brad's incredible support, he earned the title of Wilf's Fan of the Game and went home with a t-shirt and gift card to Wilf's Restaurant & Bar.

This past Saturday, the Hawks went up against the Carleton Ravens in the Battle of the Birds, where the purple and gold won their second game of the season with a 38-35 win.

It was a full house at home, as first year students flooded the stadium during the O-Week football game to contribute to the whopping 4,006 fans in attendance. Despite the large crowd, it was clear that second year student, Deyden D'Avanzo kept a high energy throughout the entirety of he game, as she cheered for the Hawks in her Laurier gear. For this, Deyden went home as the Wilf's Fan of the Game alongside a t-shirt and Wilf's gift card.

The next chance to win the title of Wilf's Fan of the Game is during the Laurier's homecoming game against the Western Mustangs on September 30th, where it will be decided whose purple is better. The game is set for 1pm. Be sure to get your ticket at tickets.laurierathletics.com before they sell out.
