Laurier wins their season opener 38-10 over the University of Toronto Varsity Blues

TORONTO, Ont. (September 5, 2017)- The Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks men's rugby team earned a 38-10 victory in their first game of the season against the University of Toronto Varsity Blues at Toronto Varsity Centre on Sunday afternoon.

Under sunny skies at Toronto Varsity Centre on Sunday afternoon, fans of Wilfrid Laurier men’s rugby team were treated to an encouraging result.

The Golden Hawks were dominant, dismantling the Blues with a 28-point victory. Led by captain Adam Quattrin of Holland Landing, Ont.,  and 4th year fly-half Nathan Roberts from Waterloo, Ont., the Hawks spent plenty of time in the Blues half of the field, ending up in the try zone several times.

Quattrin, a fifth-year prop scored two tries, garnering ten points, while Roberts contributed with four conversions, providing eight points overall.

For Toronto, the Blues were led by Faiyaz Lokhandwala (Dubai, UAE) who did a little bit of everything, including scoring a try, a conversion and a drop goal, amassing a total of 10 points.

Moving forward, Laurier will play Queen’s on Sunday, September 10th in Waterloo. Game time is 1:00 pm at University Stadium.
