TORONTO, Ont. (Sunday, September 3, 2017) – The York Lions, the 2015 OUA finalists, earned a 4-0 victory over the Golden Hawks on Sunday afternoon in Toronto, Ont., handing the purple and gold their second loss of the weekend.

Midfielder Cristian Cavalinni (Woodbridge, Ont.) scored a hat trick and Dylan Carreiro (Brampton, Ont.) provided the other goal, helping the Lions improve their record to 2-2.

For Laurier, their record now stands at 0-4 after losing both games this weekend.  Although the score was not in their favour, the Golden Hawks did not fail to pepper the Lion goal with shots, as they amassed 11 on the game.

York goalkeeper Mike Argyrides (Richmond Hill, Ont.) was impressive in the victory, making four saves and preserving the clean sheet.

On the other end, Laurier goalkeeper Jadrien Gomes (Kitchener, Ont.) saw his first action of the season, entering the game in the 60th minute, replacing Rocco Strazzella (Woodbridge, Ont.) who saw three of the four goals slip past him.

On offense, the Hawks were led by forward Nikola Miokovic (Kitchener, Ont.) who was able to direct two shots on target while Gurjinder Garcha (Burlington, Ont) was also able to put one on net.

Next up for the Golden Hawks is a rematch scheduled for Friday night. The purple and gold will undoubtedly be looking to claw back at the Lions in redemption, this time fueled by a home crowd. Kick off is set for 8:15pm at University Stadium.
