WATERLOO, Ont. (August 22, 2017)- The Wilfrid Laurier Women’s Rugby team has officially announced the hiring of Brian Quistberg as the Head Coach for the 2017-18 season.
Quistberg has an extensive background in Rugby that includes being a player for McMaster from 1980-84 where he was the captain in 1983 and playing for Queens in 1985. He extended his love for the sport when he coached the University of Waterloo Men’s Rugby team from 1985-94 receiving the OUA Coach of the Year in 1988. Since then has coached at various high schools and clubs, most recently coaching at various levels for the Brantford Harlequins, and refereed multiple league games.
As a recently retired Principal of over fifteen years, Quistberg truly holds value for the multidimensional need for the student experience to ensure
success both on and off of the field.
"Women's rugby is really growing and gaining momentum in Canada," commented Quistberg. "I'm really looking forward to being apart of the movement and coaching in the OUA again".
The season opener against Toronto is set for Saturday, September 2nd at 7:00 p.m. at the University Stadium.
Brian Quistberg can be reached for his new position at firstname.lastname@example.org.
