Laurier’s Brantford Campus hits new strides within the Varsity Cross Country Program as the first ever recruited Athlete has signed and committed to competing as a Brantford Golden Hawk this coming season. Entering our second year within the OCAA, we are pleased to announce Drew Horner as our newest roster competitor, recruited by Head Coach Cory Currie. Drew Horner will be completing his studies in Business Technology Management, while training and running with our Men’s Varsity Cross Country Team. Drew is a graduate from South Huron District Highschool, where he has left behind quite a legacy. At his graduation ceremony he was presented with a finance award to put towards his studies, rewarding him for all of his academic accomplishments thus far. We are truly excited to see Drew excel as a student-athlete here at Laurier’s Brantford Campus.
Drew Horner who grew up in Exeter, Ontario graduated as the Top male from both the Cross Country team and the Track and Field team in his Grade 12th year at South Huron District Highschool. Holding a remarkable 4:24 record for the 1500m event, along with a 9:32 record for the 3000m event and a ground breaking record of 23:13 record for the 7km race, we are confident that Drew will be an exceptional addition to our Men’s Varsity Team. Drew was invited to compete in the Cross Country Nationals, held in Vancouver, British Columbia last year, where his team placed 3rd overall. Our returning athletes are pleased to welcome the new addition and are looking forward to competing with him on the team.
Although tryout dates for this upcoming 2017-2018 season are yet to be determined, they will be released and promoted in the upcoming weeks as decided by the Coaching staff. Please refer to our Laurier Brantford Athletics and Recreation promotional pages for further information and contacts regarding the program.
