WATERLOO, Ont. (March 28, 2017) - Men’s curling second Kenneth Malcolmson of Toronto, has been named the Laurier Hawk Shop Athlete of the Week for the week ending March 26, 2017.
Last week, Malcolmson competed at the first U SPORTS curling championship of his career. The first year athlete led all seconds in shooting percentage during the round robin, as he curled an outstanding 81 percent. Moreover, in five of the Golden Hawks’ seven games, the fourth year Kin/Phys. Ed major shot no less than 80%. In the team’s 9-4 win over Dalhousie, Malcolmson achieved his best result of the week when he shot 90% in the contest. With a 3-4 record on the week, a mere tiebreak ruling in their final match was all that kept the Hawks from heading to playoffs.
This is Malcolmson’s first time earning Male Athlete of the Week Honours.
