Middle Distance competes at OUA Championships
Sydney Pattison leads Laurier at conference championships hosted by York Lions

TORONTO (February 27, 2017) - The Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks middle distance team competed at the OUA Championships, hosted by the York Lions, this past weekend.

The purple and gold sent six runners to the meet, including five women.

Leading the way for Laurier was rookie Sydney Pattison of Rockwood, Ont., as she posted the top finish for the Hawks, crossing the line in 13th in the 1000m after a time of three minutes, 3.17 seconds.

The only other woman to finish inside the Top 15 was Bettina Boucher of Whitby, Ont., who was 15th in the 3000m with a time of 10:35.49.

In the men’s events, Joe Sheridan of Waterloo, Ont., was the lone competitor for Laurier, running in both the 1500m and 3000m events. Sheridan finished 15th in the 1500m with a time of 4:07.19 and was 19th in the 3000m.
