Middle Distance opens 2017 in Toronto
Hawks snag three Top 3 finishes at Sharon Anderson Memorial Meet, hosted by the Toronto Varsity Blues

TORONTO (January 9, 2017) - The Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks middle distance team opened up their 2017 schedule at the Sharon Anderson Memorial Meet, hosted by the Toronto Varsity Blues, this past weekend.
The purple and gold competed in three distances in the women’s side of the meet with two Hawks earning Top 3 finishes. In the 1500m, Bettina Boucher of Whitby, Ont., finished second with a time of four minutes, 55.18 seconds, earning Laurier their best result of the meet.
Sydney Pattison of Rockwood, Ont., also finished inside the Top 3 of the 1000m race as she finished third in a time of 3:17.67.
In the 600m, Jessica Martin of Port Elgin, Ont., was Laurier’s top finisher as she crossed the line in seventh.
As for the men, Joe Sheridan of Waterloo, Ont., snagged a second place finish in the 3000m with a time of 8:54.81.
The Hawks also ran in the 1500m race with Dan Hilbers of Port Elgin, Ont., earning Laurier’s best finish, crossing in fourth place in a time of 4:10.55.
Laurier will be back in action on Saturday, January 21 when they travel to Western for the Don Wright Invitational.
