WINDSOR, Ont. (February 29, 2016) - The Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks middle distance team competed at the OUA Championships, hosted by the Windsor Lancers, this past weekend.

Laurier was led at the meet by fifth year Adam Cornwall of St. Mary’s, Ont. Cornwall earned Laurier’s only two Top 10 finishes as he had strong races in both the 1500m and the 3000m.

Entering the 3000m ranked fifth in the country, Cornwall was in the conversation for a possible medal at the event. However, his time of eight minutes, 23.82 seconds was slightly off his season-best time of 8:20.19 as he finished seventh in a very competitive field. Had Cornwall been able to match his time from the Windsor Team Challenge two weeks ago, it would have been enough to earn him a bronze medal.

Cornwall’s second race of the weekend was the 1500m and once again he showed well as he finished ninth in a time of 3:58.56.

The Hawks fifth year runner will now represent Laurier at the CIS Championships, being hosted in two weeks by the York Lions, from March 10-12.
