The Golden Hawks have been patiently waiting for the 2015 season to start. The Hawks are an entirely new team this year thanks to Head Coach Clancy Almas and Assistant Coach Tom Bileski who have been working extremely hard recruiting players for this 2015 season.
To start the season off the Laurier Men’s Lacrosse team had their first road trip up north last weekend. The Hawks started the season with a close loss on Saturday (9-6) against Nipissing Lakers and a very exciting win over the Laurentian Voyageurs (9-8) Sunday morning. The Golden Hawks were very excited to have their first win of the season. This was the first win for Laurier since their 2012 season.
Many of our recruitments for this season were instrumental in the win against Laurentian on Sunday morning. Starting attack player Danton Miller lead the way with 4 goals and 1 assist and rookie midfielder Nick Hehl had an amazing pass to Jordan Bennett for the game winning goal. The new recruits bring forth a newfound optimism for the Golden Hawks. This optimism stems from a major shift in culture that includes a relentless approach to ground balls, quick ball movement on offense and leadership that is apparent from everyone on the bench.
The Laurier Men’s Lacrosse team will have their first Home Opener of the season this Saturday September 19, 2015 at 7 PM on Laurier’s Alumni Field against the McMaster Marauders.
Come out and support your Laurier Men’s Lacrosse Team.
