WATERLOO, Ont. (September 3, 2013) - Women's soccer goalkeeper Katrina Ward of Surrey, B.C., and men's football receiver Greg Nyhof of Georgetown, Ont., have been named the Laurier Bookstore Athletes of the Week for the week ending September 2, 2013.

Ward recorded a pair of shutouts this past weekend to help the  Golden Hawks earn four points on their road trip. In a showdown with OUA Final Four finalists McMaster on Friday night, the fourth year health sciences major turned aside six shots as the Hawks and Marauders played to a nil-nil draw. On Sunday against Waterloo, Ward wasn't as busy but still stopped both shots directed her way as Laurier defeated their cross-town rivals 2-0 for their first win of the year.

This marks the second time in her career that Ward has been named the Female Athlete of the Week.

Nyhof recorded his first career touchdown and first career 100 yard game in the Hawks 27-20 loss to Toronto on Monday. The second year business major finished the game with six catches for 113 yards and a touchdown, including a highlight reel catch over two defenders in the fourth quarter that helped pull the Hawks to within seven points late in the contest.

Nyhof earns the Male Athlete of the Week honour for the first time in his career.
