Jr. Lifeguard & Swim Camp
Back by popular demand!!
It’s an action-packed aquatic challenge for children who love the water and want more than traditional lessons. This program is ideal for quick learners, those caught in-between levels or programs, and youth who thrive in an energetic learning environment.
The Junior Lifeguard portion of the camp has been designed to serve a serious purpose, but the process is pure fun! The club stresses skill development based on personal-best achievements. The Swim portion of the camp will focus on increasing stroke efficiency, speed and swimming endurance through drills and other activities. The focus is achieving personal bests.
Current certified lifeguards and swim instructors will provide instruction and supervision for the camp to be held at the Athletic Complex pool.
There will be a variety of pool sessions that offer a chance to see what real lifeguards do around the Laurier Aquatic Center. Students will work to develop and improve swimming and aquatic skills with emphasis on swimming and lifesaving skills, personal fitness, community education, lifesaving knowledge, leadership and teamwork. Up to seven recognition seals and lifesaving awards can be earned!
Campers will participate in a variety of dry-land activities that relate to lifesaving and swim development. There is a day trip to the Waterloo Recreation Complex for swimming and a BBQ lunch on Friday!
