It’s an action-packed aquatic challenge for children who love the water and want more than traditional lessons. This program is ideal for quick learners, those caught in-between levels or programs, and youth who thrive in an energetic learning environment.
The Junior Lifeguard Camp (JLC) has been designed to serve a serious purpose, but the process is pure fun! The club stresses skill development based on personal-best achievements.
Students will work to develop and improve swimming and aquatic skills with emphasis on swimming and lifesaving skills, personal fitness, community education, lifesaving knowledge, leadership and teamwork. Up to seven recognition seals and lifesaving awards can be earned!
Current certified lifeguards and swim instructors will provide instruction and supervision for the camp to be held at the Athletic Complex pool.
There will be a variety of pool sessions that offer a chance to see what real lifeguards do around the Laurier aquatic center. Students will work to develop and improve swimming and aquatic skills with emphasis on swimming and lifesaving skills, personal fitness, community education, lifesaving knowledge, leadership and teamwork. Up to seven recognition seals and lifesaving awards can be earned!
Campers will participate in a variety of dry-land activities that relate to lifesaving. There is a day trip to the Waterloo Recreation Complex for swimming and a BBQ lunch on Friday!
Children 8-13 who can swim a minimum of 25 metres and tread water for 2 minutes.

The regular camp hours of operation are from
9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Extended camp hours are from
8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
The Fee Includes:
• Friday Lunch
• Camp T-Shirt
• Admission to the Rec Center
Refund Policy and Notes
In the event that you cancel your child’s camp session, a minimum of 10 days notice prior to the start date of the camp is required for a refund, less a $50 administrative fee. Should you fail to give 10 days notice, you will be required to pay the full camp fee.
Please make all cheques payable to: WILFRID LAURIER UNIVERSITY. All fees and information must be completed before your application will be processed. Wilfrid Laurier charges $25 for NSF Fees.
Liability Waiver to be read and agreed to during registration:
I give my permission for my son to participate in the Men's Basketball Spring League. We will not hold liable the camp directors, counselors, staff, Wilfrid Laurier University or their staff for any personal theft, illness, or injury sustained while attending
As per the Personal Health Information Protection Act, filling out an OHIP number on a camp application form is voluntary. Should a parent or guardian choose not to supply this information, they should be reachable in the event of an emergency. I accept my responsibility to abide by the laws of the country, to ensure that I have adequate medical coverage, protect personal possessions, and obey all the rules set out for athletic and recreation activities. I accept full responsibility for my level of participation and use of equipment by exercising my judgment, based on my own experience and competence. In consideration of approval to participate in such activity, I and any personal representative, hold harmless, release and forever discharge Wilfrid Laurier University and Department of Athletics and Recreation, their directors, officers, faculty, staff, students, volunteers, agents, trainees, or employees from any and all actions, causes of actions, claims, and demands for damages, loss or injury, resulting from or arising out of my participation in such activities.
