Sandham, Hall team up for U21 Ontario Mixed Doubles title
HUNTSVILLE, Ont. (April 3, 2018) - Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks women’s curling vice Riley Sandham and men’s curling skip Matt Hall teamed up to win the 2018 U21 Ontario Mixed Doubles Championship this past weekend at the Huntsville Curling Club.

Sandham, a native of St. Catharines, Ont., and Hall, from Kitchener, Ont., defeated the team of Zahab/Mooibroek 5-4 in the championship game with Sandham making the game-winning shot in the eighth end for a single point and the victory.

As a team, the two Golden Hawks posted a 6-1 record throughout the triple-knockout format with their championship victory avenging their only loss. The pair had lost 9-3 to Zahab/Mooibroek in their third game of the event.

For Hall, the victory is his second Ontario junior title of the year, and fourth of his career, after winning the U21 men’s championship back in January. He also won the Ontario junior men’s championship in 2017 and 2016.

As for Sandham, the win gives her the first career Ontario junior championship of her career after winning an Ontario bantam women’s championship.
