WINDSOR, Ont. (February 26, 2018) - The Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks middle distance team picked up a pair of Top 15 finishes this past weekend at the OUA Track and Field Championships, hosted by the Windsor Lancers at Dennis Fairall Fieldhouse.
On Friday, second year Sydney Pattison
of Rockwood, Ont., started the Hawks off on the right foot as she finished 14th in the women’s 1000m. The kinesiology and physical education major crossed the line in three minutes, 2.72 seconds to earn Laurier’s best finish in an individual event on Day 1.
Laurier’s two relay teams also competed on Friday, competing in the 4x800m relay. Both squads finished in eighth to pick up the Hawks’ lone team points of the weekend.
The Hawks other Top 15 finish came on Saturday when Elizabeth Laurie
of Kitchener, Ont., had the purple and gold’s best individual finish of the weekend, crossing the line in 12th in the women’s 1500m. The second year communications studies major posted a time of 4:48.78, only 0.01 seconds off her season best performance.
The OUA Championships conclude the season for Laurier’s middle distance team after competing in seven events between December and February.
