WATERLOO, Ont. (February 8, 2018) – Wilfrid Laurier University recently held a successful Thrive Week from January 28th to February 2nd offering a week of free events focusing on building positive mental health.
Under the leadership of Melissa Pare
and the I Move My Mood program, the week was a huge success. The Department of Athletics and Recreation was pleased to participate in this semester's Thrive week with our instructors kicking off the week in the interactive cardio concert to dance away stress.
On January 31st for Bell Let’s Talk Day, the Athletic Complex was decorated with 300 messages of positivity, awareness and personal messages for mental health awareness.
Other events included, a day of nutrition entitled “Fuel your Body for Physical Activity” that included some yummy smoothies and make-your-own trail mix! A free yoga class and instructors wrapped up the wee-klong event with a day of free exercise classes and a series of workshops run by our personal trainers.
Thank you to all the instructors and the participants who joined us to help learn how to thrive at Laurier! We are still offering free yoga on Tuesdays at 5pm throughout the semester.
