Following perhaps their most impressive victory of the season, the Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks hit the road for a pair of games against the Queen’s Gaels and the UOIT Ridgebacks, two teams they have yet to face this season.

Last Saturday’s victory over the Lancers provided an insight to what this young squad can grow into, particularly in the opening 20 minutes of the contest when the ice was heavily tilted in their favour, outshooting Windsor 17-7. The Hawks were able to use their speed and crash the net, making life difficult for Windsor’s defenders. That success was realized in the second period when a tired Lancers team gave up three goals to seals the Hawks’ third win of the year.

Using this game as a building block, the Hawks will look to carry over the positives from the Windsor game when they face a tough Queen’s Gaels squad, who have won three of their past four games, outscoring the opposition 13-4. Laurier will then look to gain ground on the next team ahead of them in the OUA standings, the Ridgebacks.

- Laurier’s four goals scored against Windsor matched a season high for offensive output
- the Hawks are tied for fifth in the conference in goals against this season
- Laurier is winless in their last six meetings with Queens (0-0-4-2)
- the Hawks have lost two in a row to the Ridgebacks

Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks (2-1-12-3)

D Kaitlin Saxton (Oakville, Ont.)
- rookie defenceman is coming off an outstanding performance as she netted two goals and an assist in Laurier’s win over Windsor
- was named Laurier’s Female Athlete of the Week after scoring twice on the powerplay and notching the game-winning goal

No. 7 Queen’s Gaels (12-3-2-3)

F Katrina Manoukarakis (Scarborough, Ont.)
- third year forward has been a dominating force up front for the Gaels this season as she leads the conference in scoring with 27 points
- in her last six games, Manoukarakis has racked up five goals and eight assists to take a six-point lead in the OUA scoring race

UOIT Ridgebacks (4-2-12-2)

F Chelsea Ball (Maple, Ont.)
- fourth year forward sits second on team scoring with 11 points and leads the Ridgebacks with six goals
