WATERLOO, Ont. (January 18, 2018) - Wilfrid Laurier University’s Department of Athletics and Recreation announced on Thursday that the varsity basketball games scheduled for Wednesday, January 24th against the McMaster Marauders will be moved from Laurier’s Athletic Complex to the Kitchener Memorial Auditorium.
The women’s School Day Game will continue as scheduled with tipoff at 11 a.m. while the men’s game will be moved up from a 7 p.m. start and will be played immediately after the women’s game at 1 p.m.
The change of venue for the games was necessitated by the ongoing repair work on the main court at the Athletic Complex following a flooding incident last week.
Over 1300 school children will be in attendance for the women’s game which will mark the second time that Laurier’s women’s basketball team has hosted a School Day Game. The Hawks women’s team last hosted a School Day Game against the Waterloo Warriors, registering a 72-53 victory on February 25, 2016.
Laurier’s men’s and women’s basketball teams have rotated hosting a School Day Game every year since 2014-15.
Fans wishing to attend the doubleheader at the Aud can purchase their tickets to the game at tickets.laurierathletics.com
or at the venue on game day. All tickets previously purchased for both games will be honoured at the gate, including season tickets.
Information on venues for other upcoming home games for varsity basketball impacted by the main court closure at the Athletic Complex will be announced as they are secured.
