WATERLOO, Ont. (January 16, 2018) - Due to last week’s flooding incident in the three-court gymnasium at the Athletic Complex, the Main and East courts of the space will be closed for a minimum of four weeks while repairs are made to the floor.
Over the course of the next four weeks, a company will be on site drying out the courts and replacing damaged sections of the floor after a combination of ongoing roof work, heavy snow and a rapid rise in temperatures led to water entering the gym on Thursday, January 11.
The closure will impact both varsity and recreation activities scheduled for the three court gym during the repairs. Intramurals, clubs, Kinesiology activity classes and open gym will be limited to using the West court as well as varsity basketball practices.
Additional open gym times have been added at University Stadium to help accommodate students during the closure. The times are as follows:
Monday: 4-6 p.m.
Tuesday: 3-5 p.m.
Wednesday: 3 - 5 p.m.
Thursday: 3 - 5 p.m.
Friday: 1-3 p.m.
Further information regarding the relocation of Golden Hawk varsity basketball home games will be announced once locations for the impacted games, including this weekend’s doubleheader against the Algoma Thunderbirds, are secured.
