SAINT-THERESE, Que. (November 15, 2017) - The Laurier Brantford Golden Hawks cross country teams made program history this past weekend as they competed in their first-ever CCAA Championships hosted by College Lionel-Groulx.
The Laurier men’s team, which qualified out of the OCAA Championships, finished 17th out of the 21 teams competing. Ahad Naim led the way for the Hawks in the eight kilometre race as he finished 54th out of 130 participants thanks to a time of 27 minutes and 52 seconds.
Other racers which counted for the purple and gold in the team standings included Simon Crowley, who was 71st in 28:24, Drew Horner, who posted a time of 28:32 to finish 75th, and Craig Van Manen, who was 90th in 28:50.
Laurier also sent two women to compete in the six kilometre race after they qualified as individuals from the OCAA Championships.Jessa Braun
led the way as she was 79th in the field of 128 in 25:23 while Sarah Maier
finished 105th in 26:14.
The Laurier Brantford varsity cross country team is in their second year of existence and are led by head coach Cory Currie.
