VICTORIA, B.C. (November 13, 2017) - The Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks cross country team competed in U Sports nationals this past weekend, where Bettina Boucher
was a stand-out runner for the Golden Hawks.
Having recently been named an OUA Second Team All-Star, Boucher unsurprisingly registered the highest individual result for the Golden Hawks at nationals, considering both males and females. A third year native of Whitby, Ont., Boucher finished 22nd out of 151 runners, as she posted a time of 29 minutes, 49 seconds on an eight kilometer course. This result improves upon her performance at last year’s nationals, where she finished 26th overall.
As a team, Laurier finished 18th amongst the 22 teams that qualified for the team standings, improving upon their 21st finish from the previous year.
As for the men’s ten kilometer race, fourth year athlete Joe Sheridan
of Waterloo, Ont. lead the Hawks with a time of 33 minutes and 18 seconds, placing 62nd overall.
All together, Laurier finished 16th of the 17 competing schools.
