TRIAL BY FIRE
The Laurier Golden Hawks men’s basketball team continues their stretch of four out of five games against U SPORTS Top 10 teams this weekend in their first two home games of the regular season. The No. 9 ranked Ottawa Gee-Gees (2-0) visit the Athletic Complex Friday evening, with No. 1 ranked and seven-time defending national champion Carleton Ravens (2-0) due up the following night.

Hawks Head Coach Justin Serresse believes that there aren’t really any secrets to pulling off an upset against a top-ranked opponent, it all comes down to the team executing and playing to their strengths. While the schedule has certainly provided a challenge to start the season, Serresse says it’s a great opportunity for a youthful squad to learn on the fly against top-quality teams that will expose the Hawks’ flaws. The coach thinks that being able to go through that process early in the year will pay dividends throughout the rest of the season.

The Hawks are ready for the challenge and Serresse is sure that the purple and gold will rise to the occasion, which will make for some very high-quality basketball this weekend.
