It was an excting game on October 21st as the Wilfrid Laurier men's football team took on the McMaster Marauders in their last regular season game. After a tough game the week before, the Golden Hawks were looking to redeem themselves and show the Marauders exactly what they are made of. Throughout the first half of the game the Hawks faught hard in order to take an early lead and from then on, there was no stopping them. The Hawks kept their high intensity play during the whole game as they defeated the Marauders 40-15. What a way to finish the regular season!
Not only was it the last regular season game, but it was also Seniors Day at University Stadium, celebrating the graduating players and their families. Among the huge crowd that came out to support the Hawks, was Bev Ouelette, mother of graduating Golden Hawk Carson Ouellette
. Bev has been attending games the past 4 years, cheering on her favourite team both at home games and away. Bev really demonstrated what it is to be a Golden hawk fan as she carried her Laurier flag and gold and purple pompom in her hair. Whether she was in the stands or over in the tailgate, Bev clearly showed her Laurier spirit. For the amazing support that Bev showed throughout the game, she was given the title of Wilf's Fan of the Game and went home with a t-shirt and giftcard to Wilf's Restaurant & Bar.
Think you have what it takes to be the Wilf's Fan of the Game? Your next chance to win is November 4th as the Golden Hawks play their first playoff game at University Stadium!
