WATERLOO, Ont. (October 17, 2017)- The Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks women’s lacrosse team completed their regular season over the weekend, by capturing a tie against the University of Toronto, as well as two wins over Trent and UOIT.
During the purple and gold’s first of three contests against the Toronto Varsity Blues on Saturday morning, the Hawks drew a 14-14 tie, a result that well reflected the back-and-forth nature throughout the entirety of the game. Leading the Hawks through the match was second year midfielder Kathleen Milligan, who registered three goals on three shots in addition to recording four draw wins on four attempts.
Next up for Laurier, their second game of the day saw them pull out a 12-9 victory over the Trent Excalibur. Here, Taylor Miller
, a third year midfielder, was an unmistakable presence for the Hawks, as she tallied a quarter of Laurier’s scoring, having registered three goals on the day.
To finish off the series of games, as well as the regular season, the Golden Hawks went 2-1-0 on the weekend as they claimed an impressive 13-2 win against the UOIT Ridgebacks.
With that, Laurier finished the year tied for third in the OUA, with a 9-3-1 record to put them at 19 points on the season.
The Hawks now have a quick turnaround ahead of them, as they launch into OUA Championships this coming weekend. Their first game will be held on Friday, October 20th at 3:15pm, when the Hawks re-visit Trent Excalibur in the OUA Quarter-Final game. All games will be hosted at Woodside Park in Kitchener, Ont.
