WATERLOO, Ont. (September 5, 2017) - Men's rugby’s team captain Andrew Quattrin
of Holland Landing, Ont., and women’s rugby’s Juliette Lewis
of Port Elgin, Ont., have been announced as this week’s Laurier Hawk Shop Athletes of the Week for the week ending September 3rd, 2017.
Quattrin enters his fourth academic year as a geography major and fourth season on the team. This rugby powerhouse enters the year after his successful 2016 campaign, where he was not only Laurier’s leading scorer with four tries, but also earned honours as an OUA Men’s Rugby First Team All-Star for his third consecutive season. In the season opener where Laurier faced the University of Toronto, Quattrin scored two tries which lead to the purple and gold's 38-10 win. Men’s Rugby Head Coach Ian McLeod
describes Quattrin’s performance as being pivotal both offensively and defensively.
This is Quattrin’s first time earning Male Athlete of the Week Honours.
Lewis, Laurier’s lock, was a driving force for the Golden Hawks women's rugby team this weekend when she dominated both defensively and offensively. Throughout the game the psychology major pushed the ball and scrums forward combined with scoring a try contributing to the Golden Hawks’ 29-25 win. As she continues into her third season on the team, she is definitely an athlete to watch.
This is Lewis’s first time earning Female Athlete of the Week Honours.
