MCURL Matthew Hall earns national scholarship
Hall has received the 2017 Curling Canada Foundation For the Love of Curling scholarship
WATERLOO, Ont. (August 25, 2017) - Matthew Hall of Kitchener, Ont., one of Canada’s most promising student/athlete curlers, has been named a recipient of the For the Love of Curling scholarships, awarded by the 2017 Curling Canada Foundation.
The For the Love of Curling scholarship aims to help young university students cover student-related costs during the 2017-18 school year. Hall was one of ten athletes who received the $1,000 scholarship that is funded by donations from curling fans and supporters of the Curling Canada Foundation. This success was decided by a committee that took both full-time academic and curling achievements into consideration.
This year, Hall will be entering his third year as he continues to pursue a double major in finance and math. Prior to his time at Laurier, Hall racked up the titles of being a three-time Ontario Champion, Canadian Silver Medalist and a Canadian All-Star. All of which speaks volumes to the major role he played on Laurier’s men’s curling team where they have captured the title of Men’s Curling OUA Champions for the past two seasons as well as Men’s Curling CIS Champions in the 2015-16 season.
Hall will take to the ice come January, when Laurier's curling season returns.
