WATERLOO, Ont. (August 22, 2017) - The Wilfrid Laurier University Department of Athletics and Recreation is pleased to officially announce the newest Youth Program for the 2017-18 year.
The Adopt-A-School is in support of schools, teachers and students in the Kitchener-Waterloo Region. This is an opportunity for businesses to give back to the community by purchasing season tickets that are then donated to local schools. Teachers can use these tickets to reward students that excel in academics, athletics, extra-curricular activities or volunteer work.
For one hundred dollars the donor will receive four sets of season tickets for football, basketball or hockey for the school, recognition on the Laurier Athletics Adopt-A-School website and recognition on all Golden Hawks webcasts.
This program immensely benefits the Kitchener- Waterloo community and specifically the students on a unique level through sports. The tickets will be utilized as a reward for exemplary achievement in the classroom, extra-curricular activities and volunteer work.
This program is an addition to the other youth programs already offered by the department, including the Junior Golden Hawks program for schools and teams.
The Junior Golden Hawks offers teams the opportunity to play a friendly inter-team or team versus team scrimmage between periods of a Golden Hawks varsity game. There is also an opportunity for school choirs to sing the anthem at the opening ceremonies of a Golden Hawks varsity game.
More information on these programs can be found in the Golden Hawks Fan Zone
