WATERLOO, ONT. (August 22, 2017)- The Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks curling team has released their coaching roster for the upcoming season, as announced by Head Coach, Matt Wilkinson
is going into his second season as head coach and men’s varsity coach where he has earned back-to-back OUA Championships with men’s curling. John Gabel will be entering the position of Women’s Varsity Coach, after having been the men’s Junior Varsity coach for two seasons. Gabel was also a former member of the team, as he played three seasons in purple and gold in which he won a CIS Championship title in the 2015-16 season, two OUA
Championships, and was named Team Rookie of the Year in his first seasons with the Hawks.
Another addition to the coaching staff is Kerilynn Mathers as the new Junior Varsity Coach. After being on the curling team for four seasons, Mathers played a key role in the team obtaining three Women’s Curling OUA Championships and one Women’s Curling CIS Championship in the 2011-12 season.
Entering his first year as a Junior Varsity coach is Fraser Reid. Reid has previously played five years with purple and gold where the team won two OUA championships and one CIS Championship in the 2015-16 season. During his time on the team Reid also obtained multiple league awards such as the OUA Men’s Curling First Team All-Star in the 2015-16 season.

reflected on the newest additions stating:
"We are very excited with the coaching changes and additions that we have made for the upcoming season. John has been a very influential part of our coaching staff within the junior varsity system for some time now and we are thrilled about the values that he will be bringing to our varsity program. We are also very pleased that Kerilynn and Fraser have agreed to join our staff for the season. Both Kerilynn and Fraser will bring the values to the program that they gained throughout the many years as they competed for the Golden Hawks."
Curling will being their season in January.
