PREVIEW: WBASK looks to upset No. 4 Ravens
Game Date/Time: Saturday, February 25 - 6 p.m.
Game Location: Ravens Nest, Ottawa
Live Webcast:

Fresh off producing their highest point total in playoff history, the seventh-seeded Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks (13-7, 1-0) will head on the road for the OUA Quarter-finals where they will be looking to upset the second-seeded and No. 4 Carleton Ravens (18-1, 0-0) for a spot in the OUA Final Four tournament next weekend.

- Laurier and Carleton met once during the regular season with the Ravens earning a 71-60 win over the Golden Hawks in Waterloo
- in that contest, the purple and gold were unable to contain Carleton forward Heather Lindsay as she scored 34 points and added 10 rebounds in the victory

- the Hawks and Ravens last met in the OUA playoffs back in 2013-14 when Laurier pulled off a 70-65 double overtime victory in Ottawa to win the OUA Bronze Medal and advance to the CIS Championship
- veteran guards Kaitlyn Schenck (Kitchener, Ont.) and NICOLE MORRISON (Hamilton) both saw action in that game with Schenck playing a huge role in the victory, scoring 16 points

1. Keep the Offence Rolling
- Laurier is coming off their best offensive game ever in the playoffs as they poured in 86 points against the Toronto Varsity Blues in the OUA First Round on Wednesday night
- it will be crucial for the Hawks to carry that momentum forward into Saturday’s matchup with the Ravens as they are facing the top scoring defence in the conference during the regular season

2. Limit Carleton’s Front-Court Production
- Carleton had three players finish the regular season averaging double digits in scoring and all were forwards
- Laurier will need to throw a swarming interior defence, featuring quick rotations and double-teams, at the Ravens forwards on Saturday, similar to their performance against the Windsor Lancers earlier this month

3. Play to your Strengths
- playing a higher-ranked team, Laurier will need to focus on what has made them successful this season, including quick ball movement, getting to the free throw line as well as strong interior defence
- the Hawks ranked fifth in the OUA in assists this season and had 21 against Toronto in their playoff opener
- Laurier was also number one in the conference in free throw makes and attempts as well as blocks
- the purple and gold will need to excel in all three elements if they are to upset the Ravens and advance to the OUA Final Four

Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks (13-7, 1-0)

G Irena Rynkiewicz (Mississauga, Ont.)
- coming off one of the best games of her career, the second year guard will surely draw plenty of attention from the Ravens’ defence
- the OUA’s leading three-point shooter this season finished with a team-high 19 points but was also a presence on defence, recording four steals and pulling down five defensive rebounds

G Lauren Jamison (Oakville, Ont.)
- while Carleton will surely be focusing on shutting down the Hawks’ big three of Schenck, Morrison and Rynkiewicz, Laurier will need others to step up to draw the attention of the Ravens defence
- the third year guard has been very consistent for the Hawks over their last six games, scoring eight or more points in four of those, all of which have been victories

Carleton Ravnes (18-1, 0-0) - No. 4 in Canada

F Heather Lindsay (Ottawa)
- after going off for 34 points against the Hawks in their regular season matchup, Laurier will need to find a way to contain this fourth year forward

F Catherine Traer (Chelsea, Que.)
- the fourth year forward was the Ravens leading scorer during the regular season, averaging 14.6 points per game while shooting 41 percent from the floor
