ST. CATHERINES, Ont. (February 4, 2017) - The Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks women’s basketball team had their four game win streak snapped by the Brock Badgers (7-9) on Saturday afternoon as the Badgers came away with a 72-67 win at the Bob Davis Gymnasium.
The purple and gold flew onto the court and wasted no time finding their offensive stride. By the end of the opening quarter, the Hawks were rolling with a 16-14 lead over the home team.
By the second frame, the Badgers took control of the game to edge Laurier out of their slight advantage. Going into halftime, Laurier was a single basket behind Brock, who lead 33-31.
The Badgers would continue to hold off the Hawks in the third quarter, pushing their lead to five entering the final frame.
In the final quarter, Brock came out hot on the attack, and lead the game throughout. Despite Laurier’s best efforts, the Hawks suffered their first loss in five games.

of Hamilton. The veteran recorded 19 points and added another three rebounds to her tally, which puts her at seventh in the league for points with a 15.6 average Kaitlyn Schenck
of Kitchener, Ont., was also solid in the loss coming away with 14 points and six rebounds of her own. This performance puts her at fifth in the league for points, averaging 15.8 per game.
Laurier is now 11-6 on the season, which has them holding second place in the OUA West.
The Golden Hawks will look to get back to their winning ways on Wednesday February 8th, when they take to the road to play the Windsor Lancers. Tip off is set for 3 p.m. at Caesars Windsor Coliseum and the game can be seen live on OUA.tv.
