THE LOW DOWN
With their 2016-17 home schedule winding down, the Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks (8-5) will host a pair of crucial games as they take on the Waterloo Warriors (5-6) on Wednesday evening before welcoming the Toronto Varsity Blues (6-6) to the Athletic Complex on Saturday.

FAN INFORMATION
- Note the 7 p.m. start time for Wednesday’s Battle of Waterloo game against the Waterloo Warriors
- Saturday’s game against Toronto will be both the Hawks’ annual Shoot for the Cure game and Autograph Day
- Fans who wear pink to Saturday’s game will get in for free while donation opportunities will be available on site
- following the game against the Varsity Blues, the Hawks will be in the Hawk Lounge signing autographs for fans

NEED TO KNOW
- for the first time in three weeks, the Hawks get a small break in their schedule as they won’t face a Top 10 opponent
- Laurier enters the week fresh off their first win of 2017, a 62-55 decision over the Guelph Gryphons, which snapped a three-game losing streak
- the Hawks have been hit hard by injuries lately with starters Nicole Morrison of Hamilton, and Irena Rynkiewicz of Mississauga, Ont., both missing time
- Waterloo enters Wednesday’s game playing their basketball of the year, winning three of their last four games, including a weekend sweep of the Algoma Thunderbirds last weekend
- Toronto has been even so far in 2017, splitting their first four contests, but are coming off an 86-63 loss to the No. 5 Queen’s Gaels in their last contest
- Laurier has won 15 straight games against the Warriors dating back to 2009 and are on a three-game winning streak against the Varsity Blues, including a 79-62 victory last season

PLAYERS TO WATCH
Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks (8-5)

G JILL CONDRON (Oakville, Ont.)
- with the Hawks using a short-handed lineup against Guelph on Friday, the rookie guard had the best game of her young career, posting a near double-double of 10 points, nine rebounds while adding four steals

G Rachel Woodburn (Courtice, Ont.)
- another rookie who stepped up for Laurier in their last game, the guard played a career-high 33 minutes while finishing with four points, nine rebounds, three assists, three steals and two blocked shots

Waterloo Warriors (5-6)

G Kristen Orborne (Markham, Ont.)
- third year guard is helping the Warriors put together their best season in years, averaging a team-high 11.5 points while sitting second in rebounding at 4.5 per game 

Toronto Varsity Blues (6-6)

G Rahshida Atkinson (Scarborough, Ont.)
- fourth year guard is leading the way for a balanced Varsity Blues offence, averaging 13.3 points per game while shooting nearly 90 percent from the free throw line
