Tamara and Andrew Wilf's Fans of the Game

It was a big weekend at the Waterloo Athletic Complex where the women’s and men’s basketball teams were keeping busy playing on both Friday December 2nd and Saturday December 3rd. The Hawks had a successful start on Friday night as they took on the Laurentian Voyageurs. The women were on their game as they defeated the Voyageurs with an 83-57 finish. The men followed in their footsteps as they kept a close game and pulled out the W in a tight 81-75 final.

It was clear that the fans were just as excited as the players during the game, as the Golden Hawks conquered the Voyageurs. Laurier student Tamara Bugarsi rooted for the home team in support of her boyfriend Vlad Matovic. She showed her utmost support geared up in Laurier clothing and cheering loud enough for the players to hear her while they were on the court. For her constant support of the Hawks, Tamara was named Wilf’s Fan of the Game.

Following Friday night, the Golden Hawks were ready to battle the Nipissing Lakers. The women powered through the game as they put up huge numbers on the scoreboard winning 94-62. The men fought long and hard throughout the game as they kept the score close, but in the end, fell just short in a 65-66 buzzer-beater finish.

You could feel the energy in the gym on Saturday night as the Golden Hawks were fighting for the big win. The men’s rugby team came out to support their fellow Hawks in their battle against Nipissing. Cheering every point, it was difficult to choose just one of them from the crowd, but Andrew Quattrin came with a creative poster in hand to support his friend Tevaun Kokko. Andrew went home as the Wilf’s Fan of the Game for his enthusiasm and encouragement throughout the exciting game.

Both Tamara and Andrew received a Wilf’s Fan of the Game t-shirt and a gift certificate to Wilf’s Restaurant and Bar.

Your next chance to win Wilf’s Fan of the Game is in the New Year when the Golden Hawk women's and men’s basketball teams take on the Carleton Ravens, January 6th at 6:00pm. Show us what you’ve got and you could go home with the title!
