BXC continues their season at UW Don Mills
Golden Hawks led by Markell and Crowley in Waterloo
Led by Head Coach Cory Currie, the Laurier Brantford Golden Hawks cross country team tested their distances at their second season meet this past Saturday at University of Waterloo’s Don Mills Invitational. OUA cross country distances for men and women are 10km and 6km, respectively; longer than the typical 8km and 5km respectively for OCAA.
The Brantford Golden Hawks took advantage of this distance difference to test their training and to compete against a variety of different schools and athletes.
Laurier Brantford female athletes included Mahayla Markell (38th finish with 26:11), Jessa Braun (46th finish with 26:43) and Nakita Dostie (63rd finish with 30:16). Laurier Brantford male athletes included Simon Crowley (65th place finish with 40:02), Craig Van Manen (66th place with 40:04), Jerrett Putt (67th place with 40:19) and Michael Butler (78th place with 42:10).
The cross country team looks forward to their last invitational at Seneca College on Saturday, October 15th before the OCAA Championships on Saturday, October 29th.
