WATERLOO, Ont. (August 3, 2016) – Wilfrid Laurier University saw 52 of their varsity athletes earn OUA and CIS awards for academic performance during the 2015-16 season, the department of athletics and recreation announced on Wednesday.
The OUA Academic All-Star and CIS Academic All-Canadian honours are granted to student-athletes who achieve an average of 80 percent or higher for the school year.
“The student athletes that wear the purple and gold continue to set the bar of excellence to become leaders in their communities even after graduation,” said PETER BAXTER
, director of athletics and recreation. "We are proud of our athletes who have earned the honours of OUA and CIS academic achievement and encourage all of our athletes to strive for excellence in all aspects of their lives.”
The 52 varsity athletes to earn the academic awards is up from 35 who achieved the honour last season.
