KINGSTON, Ont. (May 16, 2016) – Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks women’s basketball guard NICOLE MORRISON (Hamilton, Ont.) assisted Team Sparks to a 77-57 victory at the ninth annual OUA All-Star Game hosted by Queen’s University this past weekend.
The fourth year guard was selected to represent the purple and gold on the All-Star team led by Head Coach Andy Sparks of the University of Ottawa Gee-Gees and played 18 minutes alongside ten of her peers. Morrison, who earned a sixth place rank in the OUA with her record of 15.6 points per game last season, contributed a total of four points, eight rebounds, three assists and one steal in the game.
Team Sparks took the lead in the first quarter, finishing the first ten minutes with a 16-10 lead, and continued to pick up momentum in the second as they drained 22 more to earn a 38-24 lead by half time.
The opposing team, led by Head Coach Carly Clarke of the Ryerson University Rams, did not take their foot off of the gas despite entering into the second half down by 14 points. Team Clarke outperformed Team Sparks from beyond the arc as Clarke’s team hit 30 percent, however, Sparks’ squad found more scoring opportunities overall which made the difference in the game.
