Cornwall finishes 6th at CIS Track and Field

TORONTO (March 14, 2016) - Wilfrid Laurier middle distance runner Adam Cornwall put together an outstanding showing at his first appearance at the CIS Track and Field Championships as he finished sixth in the 3000m this past weekend at the Toronto Track and Field Centre.

Cornwall, a native of St. Mary’s, Ont., posted his second-fastest time of the season as he crossed the line in eight minutes, 22.91 seconds in what was a very quick field at the national championship. Laval’s Antoine Thibault won the race going away as he finished first in 8:10.20.

For Cornwall, not only was it his first appearance at the CIS Championship, it was also the first appearance by any Golden Hawk at the track and field championships. His sixth place finish also meant Laurier was officially represented in the team standings as he earned three points to place the purple and gold tied for 21st at the event.
